Known as "Long", but more familiar as the hole that features "Hogan's Alley", the sixth hole has caused more heartache and pain than any other in the championship. Steve Pate can testify to that. The American ran up a quadruple bogey nine there yesterday.

In fact, only nine players out of 154 players managed a birdie - the lowest birdie count on any hole on the course. Sixty seven players managed par; 61 players incurred double bogeys; 11 players suffered double bogeys; five players had triple bogeys, and one (Pate) had the ignominy of a quadruple bogey.
