Roscommon's Deirdre Judge was the leading qualifier after the first day at Galway GC yesterday. Judge, this year's Munster champion, was one stroke clear after a four-over-par 76. Ada Burke (Charleville) and Claire Coughlan (Cork) were the next best qualifiers for the matchplay stages which start today with 32 players.

Meanwhile, in the intermediate amateur championship at the same course, Michelle McGreevy (Rossmore) was the leading qualifier for the matchplay stage.
