Tradition is restored this year in that both Kilkenny schools are involved - St Kieran's and Kilkenny CBS - with Nowlan Park also the venue (2.30). Kilkenny CBS eliminated the holders Dublin Colleges in one semi-final, while St Kieran's, champions two years back, overwhelmed St Mary's, Enniscorthy, in the other.
The new champions that emerge here have a bye into the All-Ireland final on April 28th as Ulster field no representatives at this level.
St Colman's, Fermoy, play Connacht champions Mercy College, Woodford, in the sole All-Ireland semi-final, set for Sunday at Kilmallock (3.30).
In football, Munster champions Coláiste na Sceilige meet Connacht champions St Jarlath's, Tuam, at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick (1.45) in a curtain-raiser to the Division Two semi-final between Kerry and Meath (3.30).
Leinster champions Dundalk Colleges will play Ulster champions St Michael's, Enniskillen, in the other semi-final set for Saturday in Clones (5.30).
