The King's Hospital 30 St Gerard's School 0Leinster League winners King's Hospital strolled through to the quarter-final of the Senior Cup with an impressive display of power and organisation at Lakeland's Park.

St Gerard's had first use of a hellish wind that would have ruined the game were it not for the application of two committed sides.

Outhalf Alan Power was either short or wide of the mark with three ultra-difficult penalty attempts as ferocious Hospital defending, in particular by their back row of Ben Cunningham, Graham Carleton and number eight Shane Young, kept St Gerard's from the danger zone.

It looked as though the sides would go in scoreless until full back Paul Donavan took a short ball from his outhalf Killian Lett to sprint over from 30 metres out. Lett converted for a 7-0 lead at the break.
