Moyne Community School 2-9 St Joseph's Rochfortbridge 2-3:A wonderful goal from full forward Patrick King midway through the second half proved to be the match-winning score in this lacklustre Leinster Colleges senior football championship first-round qualifier in Rochfortbridge yesterday.

Despite the advantage of home soil, St Joseph's, coached by former Kildare star Cormac Davey, never really settled in to the game and despite a brief renaissance with goals from Robert Leavy (penalty) and Wayne Fox after the interval they were always in trouble.

And it was King's strike that nipped the revival in the bud with his side's second goal and thereafter the Longford boys, for whom Martin Brady was prominent, cruised home. Another to star was forward Shane Briody who closed with a tally of 1-5.
