PGA TOUR: Two eagles, at the sixth and 11th holes, helped American Cliff Kresge to the clubhouse lead at the PGA Tour PODS Championship at Palm Harbor, Florida, yesterday.
Kresge's opening 65 saw him finish two clear of Daniel Chopra, with Jesper Parnevik a shot further back on 68 with Pat Perez and Heath Slocum. ...
Kresge, who was five-under-par after the eagle at the sixth in a first nine of 31, also birdied the 10th and eagled the 11th before dropped shots at the 16th and 18th saw him home in 34.
He holed a six-iron from 184 yards for his eagle at the sixth, but the 11th was slightly more regulation, sinking a 10-foot putt having reached the green in two.
"For 11 holes it was a dream round," he said.
CHALLENGE TOUR: Carlos Del Moral moved into the lead at the Tusker Kenya Open after an opening five-under-par 65 yesterday.
The Spaniard leads Sweden's Klas Eriksson and Englishman Oliver Whiteley by two at the Karen Golf Club on the outskirts of Nairobi, with a further five players - including 2007 Club Colombia Masters champion Edoardo Molinari of Italy - on two-under-par 68.
Stephen Browne carded a four-over-par 74 while Michael Hoey and Michael McGeady are two shots further back after 76s.
