Laois clubs for reprieve

Camross and Castletown look set to be reinstated to this year's Laois hurling championship following a county board U-turn

Camross and Castletown look set to be reinstated to this year's Laois hurling championship following a county board U-turn. The clubs were banned after a melee in a game last September.

A meeting of the Laois Competitions Control Committee has been fixed for tomorrow evening and it is almost certain that the two clubs will be allowed back in.

Seán Kelly, former president of the GAA and current chairperson of the Irish Institute for Sport, will today be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate from DIT for his contributions to Irish sport.
