It might not have been quite like Frankie Dettori's magnificent seven at Ascot but 22 year-old claiming rider Andrew Leigh secured his own slice of fame at Fairyhouse yesterday when "going through the card" in the two races that were run before racing was called off.

Leigh won the opening handicap chase on the 12 to 1 shot Skibb before notching the first Grade 1 success of his career on board Hide The Evidence in the Bar-One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle. The 10 to 1 winner shot six lengths clear of the odds on favourite Clopf with Cleni Boy in third.

It brought the jockey's career total to 31 winners and Leigh, a son of Jessica Harrington's travelling head man, Eamon Leigh, saw his claim drop to 3lbs after yesterday's disrupted action.

"Jessica is very good to leave me on the horse," said the jockey. "People say he stole it when he won at Roscommon, and in Cork, but he proved today he is a good horse."

Hide The Evidence is a general 10 to 1 shot for the Supreme at Cheltenham and Harrington has the festival in mind for the five year-old.

"Like Macs Joy, he won his maiden at Downpatrick and he has kept improving and improving ever since. We might go somewhere in March!" she said. "There's a lot of competition for rides in my place but it's very nice for Andrew to win his first Grade 1." Skibb's trainer, "Mouse" Morris was delighted to see Skibb regain winning form and added: "The fella that rode him is a good little rider."
