Leinster head for The Hills

YET ANOTHER stamina-sapping weekend for both Leinster and The Hills

YET ANOTHER stamina-sapping weekend for both Leinster and The Hills. After two wins apiece last week, both teams are involved in important cup ties today, before meeting each other in tomorrow's 50 Over League final at Malahide.

There is just one change in the Leinster line-up - a line-up that has remained practically unaltered since the beginning of the season. Paul Ryan replaces the unavailable Ray McDonnell for today's Royal Liver Cup meeting with Merrion, but returns tomorrow. The Hills have announced the same 11 that beat Phoenix and Old Belvedere last weekend.

Whatever about the relative strengths of the sides, it is fair to say that their successes have been helped by hard work, strong leadership and an aggressive approach in the field. Social niceties will be kept to a minimum tomorrow.

On a not unrelated subject, the LCU Disciplinary Committee will meet with Malahide's Damian Ryan at Castle Avenue this morning to discuss the unfortunate incidents that took place in the recent Leinster v Malahide game at Rathmines.

Ryan has already resigned as Malahide captain and the club's executive committee has suspended him for five league matches. It remains to be seen what further sanctions, if any, will be imposed.

Finally, after two years of fund raising, Bagenalstown CC are delighted to announce the official opening of their new clubhouse, which will take place at 5.0 today. A selected XI will play the host club in a game beginning at 2.0 and there will also be a celebration barbecue at the Lord Bagenal, Leighlinbridge, starting at 8.30.
