SPORT ON TELEVISION: Liverpool will kick off TV3's live coverage of the Champions League as the network prepares to broadcast 33 live games from the premier European competition. The first match against Valencia on Tuesday, September 17th, will be followed by Manchester United's live game against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa the next day.
TV3 will also broadcast five National League matches and show delayed coverage of the Republic of Ireland's home European Championship qualification matches and friendlies. BSkyB own the rights to the live coverage of the Republic's games.
Following the Liverpool game highlights of Arsenal's match against Borussia Dortmund and delayed coverage of Roma v Real Madrid will also be shown. Highlights of Newcastle's game against Dynamo Kiev will follow Manchester United's match.
Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Packie Bonner will be the TV3 studio's anchorman with Mick McCarthy, Mark Lawrenson, John Toshack, Kevin Moran, Frank Stapleton, Tony Cascarino, John Aldridge and Mick Martin forming the pundit's line-up.
The domestic magazine programme will begin on October 7th with the first live match scheduled to be Bohemians v Shelbourne at the beginning of November.
