Six Nations News: Gary Longwell has been named in the Ireland squad ahead of the Six Nations encounter with England in Twickenham tomorrow week.

The Ulster and Ballymena second row replaces Donncha O'Callaghan, who suffered knee ligament damage in last Saturday's victory over Wales.

The team to face England will be named on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, England centre Mike Tindall was named in their 26-man training squad.

Tindall, who played in the World Cup final victory over Australia, was expected to miss the entire Six Nations campaign after rupturing ligaments at the end of December but is now fit to face Ireland.

Speaking before last night's announcement, Tindall said: "The lay-off was originally supposed to be 10 to 12 weeks, but it has been nine, so that is a big plus for me.

"I am feeling great, and really can't wait to get out there. The Six Nations is always in the back of my mind, and I suppose that it is still a target, but I have to concentrate on getting myself back to full fitness for Bath."

Tindall, capped 33 times, played a key role in England's World Cup success. In his enforced absence, coach Clive Woodward switched Jason Robinson to centre alongside Will Greenwood.

Centre Stuart Abbott and winger James Simpson-Daniel were also named in Woodward's squad after recovering from injuries that ruled them out of England's victories over Italy and Scotland.

But Charlie Hodgson's hopes of featuring in the Six Nations are effectively over.

The Sale Sharks outhalf is still recovering from a knee cartilage operation after being injured during his club's European Cup game against Leinster Lions last month.

"Charlie's knee is improving now after his cartilage operation, but I think we are still about a month away," said Sharks coach Jim Mallinder.
