Tyrone 2-9 Fermanagh 0-10: Fermanagh gave league champions Tyrone a fright at Healy Park, but in the end, Mickey Harte's side managed to pick up their first points of the season.A late Colm McCullagh goal finally settled the issue, just when the Erne men looked capable of carving out a result, after trailing at the break by 1-6 to 0-1.
Mark Harte hit Tyrone's first-half goal, but with Martin McGrath foraging tirelessly and Stephen Maguire kicking some superb points in the second half, a shock result looked like it was taking shape, but it just eluded Charlie Mulgrew's courageous side.
Fermanagh's finishing failed to do justice to their approach play in a promising opening period, a host of missed chances, including Conor Gormley's goal-line clearance from Liam McBarron, allowing Tyrone off the hook.
The wind-assisted Red Hands, in contrast, raced into the lead with two Harte points and a glorious long-range effort from Owen Mulligan. And when Harte took a Colin Holmes pass to shoot low to the net in the 18th minute, the All-Ireland champions led by 1-3 to no score.
Superb scores followed from Colm McCullagh and SeáCavanagh, before Harte thumped over a 45-metre free. Fermanagh, whose only first-half score came from a Maguire free, trailed by 1-6 to 0-1 at the break.
Maguire fired over a succession of wonderful scores from frees and play in the second half, and inside half an hour Fermanagh had reduced the deficit to a goal.
McGrath's industry in the midfield area was one of the chief factors in their second-half effectiveness, and they had an out-of-sorts Tyrone rattled. But Colm McCullagh came to the rescue two minutes from the end of normal time, taking Leo Meenan's knockdown to blast to the net.
