South African Andrew McLardy missed a golden opportunity for a course record on the final day of the BMW International in Munich.

After two eagles and seven birdies — and also two bogeys — McLardy missed from under three feet on the last and so with a par five there signed for a 63, one more than the record held by six players including Darren Clarke, David Feherty and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Level par at the start of the day, he finished nine under, but was not even on the leaderboard. German Martin Kaymer led by six overnight at 18-under.
