Limerick Corporation have completed the development of a new 18-hole municipal golf course at Rathbane, on the south-west of the city, at a cost of over £2 million, including the cost of the land. It will open for play on Thursday, March 19th, with a civic week mayor's charity golf classic. Eamon Ryan, the golf course project co-ordinator, said that the overall cost so far was over £1.2 million, not including the cost of the land valued at £850,000.
The site comprises 125 acres of undulating land elevated with trees and hedgerows which are an integral feature of the course, which is 6,512 yards off the blue tees.
