Ronan O’Gara and Donncha O’Callaghan are both in line to feature for Munster at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday evening.

The veteran outhalf and lock are both expecting recalls to the starting Ireland XV for Sunday week’s resumption of the Six Nations against Scotland in Murrayfield and it’s felt they need game time. Jonathan Sexton is considered extremely unlikely to recover from a hamstring “strain” while Mike McCarthy (knee) and Donnacha Ryan (back) are also struggling to be fit.

Not to be risked

No other player in the current Ireland squad took part in Munster training yesterday. Stephen Archer also returned to training yesterday, having missed out on a potential Ireland call up after sustaining a dead leg against Cardiff on January 5th. The tighthead will be further assessed before the squad that will travel to Wales is announced.

Meanwhile, Jordi Murphy has re-signed with Leinster. The 21-year-old backrower was already promoted from Academy status to development contract this season, having featured 12 times and scoring two tries.
