DIT 2-10 St Patrick's 0-15:DIT overcame St Patrick's at Drumcondra yesterday to advance to the semi-final of the Fitzgibbon Cup for the first time.
Their last-four appointment will be against UCG in Carlow and they'll be hoping Kevin O'Reilly can repeat yesterday's heroics.
The Dublin hurler, who made such an impact in the opening National Hurling League tie against Kilkenny, scored 1-8, all from the placed ball. His 21st-minute penalty enabled DIT to lead at half-time, 1-4 to 0-6, but they found themselves three points down in the 45th minute.
Two points from Ger Arthur and another point from Kilkenny's James Cha Fitzpatrick had the home support humming.
But that lead was wiped out in an instant when Eamonn Clarke nipped into the clear to guide in a goal and level a pulsating contest for the fifth and last time.
In a frantic last chapter, extra-time looked a possibility, but DIT got the telling scores from O'Reilly (two), Willie O'Dwyer and Niall Kelly.
