Clare Abbott – Equestrian Sport

Age: 30 Event: 3-day Eventing. Hometown: Hillsborough

The 30-year-old is based in Hillsborough in Northern Ireland, where she runs an eventing yard with her mother Catherine. An experienced rider she has competed in the European Championships in Malmo, Sweden, in 2013 and World Equestrian Games. Also a Lisburn maths teacher, she travels to Rio with her Irish Sport Horse, the chestnut gelding Euro Prince. Trevor Smith from county Down competed in Sydney on Dr John McKay's High Scope, finishing 18th. Now Dr McKay and his son Cormac, a doctor in Moy, may attend another Olympics with Abbott riding their horse.
