The young kid on the block, who won a silver medal in the ISF World Youth event in Dublin Bay in 2012. At the age of 17, he took gold in the U21 division, silver in the Europeans, and bronze in the Worlds, all pretty phenomenal. From the sailing hot bed of landlocked Carlow, he started his sailing in Blessington lake in Wicklow and qualified for Rio in May in the third and final trial in Mexico, aged 20, becoming the youngest ever Irish sailing helmsman to qualify for the Olympic Games.Lynch is regarded as one of the best talents to emerge in Irish sailing for some time.
