Glenanne put a dent in Railway Union's title hopes on Saturday when they drew 1-1 at Park Avenue, a result that sees Railway drop to third in the table, now four points adrift of UCD and one behind Hermes.

Marie Goulding put the visitors ahead in the first minute, and it wasn’t until eight minutes from time that they finally found an equaliser, Zara Delany rescuing a point.

UCD and Hermes had no such troubles, the students beating Old Alexandra 4-1 with goals from Jamie Deacon, Emily Beatty, Nicola Evans and Anna O’Flanagan, while a double from Kerry McComish helped Hermes to a 3-0 win at North Kildare.

Loreto, meanwhile, put a nine-point gap between themselves and fifth-placed Alexandra with a 2-0 win at Pembroke Wanderers.

Emma Smyth, though, got the winner for Railway, putting them through to the last four with yesterday’s other winners, Loreto, Pembroke Wanderers and Trinity.
