Scott Evans made light work of Bulgaria's Blagovest Kisyov as he strolled into the men's badminton last eight at the European Games in Baku.
Evans, seeded number one heading into the games, remains on course for a gold medal after a comfortable 21-6 21-13 straight sets win.
Evans is yet to learn his fate as to who he will be playing in the quater-finals.
Elsewhere Donegal duo Chloe and Sam Magee also enjoyed a comprehensive win in the mixed doubles Group A, conceding just five points as they beat Malta's Samuel Cali and Fiorella Marie Sadowski 21-3 21-2.
In the pool Rachel Bethel’s fifth place in heat four in the women’s 200m freestyle proved enough to give her a spot in Thursday afternoon’s semi-finals.
Emma Reid qualified for her second semi-final of the games after she swam a time of 1:02.66 in the 100m butterfly.
There was also success for the women’s 4x100m relay medley, with Reid, Bethel, Danielle Hill and Mona McSharrycombining to give Ireland third place in the heat and gave Irish swimmers their first final of the games.
