It's a huge weekend for Three Rock Rovers. Not only are their grounds at Grange Road hosting the men's and women's Leinster Senior Cup finals on St Patrick's Day, where they meet UCD in the men's final, but Rovers also but face Cookstown tomorrow in the third round of the Irish Hockey League.
Currently on top of their Pool A with two wins from two, Rovers are still on track to scoop the Irish League and the Leinster Senior Cup to add to the Irish Senior Cup, which they won a few weeks ago in a penalty shoot out win over Pembroke.
Pembroke are also on full points and only trail in second place by virtue of Rovers’ massive goal haul of 12 from two games. It makes Cookstown’s trip to Dublin all the more serious and a win is required if the Ulster side are to have real interest in the pool.
In Pool B Monkstown and Banbridge both have eight points with C of I in third place and four points behind.
Once again C of I badly need a win as Monkstown travel to Cork. But it does not look cheerful for the home side, who conceded seven goals to Banbridge a few weeks ago. Now at the half way stage, a win for the south Dublin side would set them up nicely for an expected showdown against Banbridge in Rathdown School in the final pool match.
