Inconsistency is one thing Peña can't be accused of, and even if the big breakthrough performance is yet to come, Rio marks her second Olympics, having also competed in London. Born in California, where she still lives, Peña qualified for Ireland in 2010 via her Derry grandmother Angela McCoy while as a youngster she competed in the World Irish Dancing championships in Killarney. The pole vault is very much her speciality now, her Irish record of 4.60m set in 2013, although she'll need to improve on that to have any chance of making the final in Rio.
