Thailand's Chawalit Plaphol moved to the head of the field at the Indonesia Open after shooting a bogey-free six-under-par 65 in the opening round at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club.

The 32-year-old from Chonburi blitzed the par-71 Pantai Indah Kapuk course with six birdies to secure a one-shot lead over Finland's Mikko Ilonen before play was suspended in the late afternoon due to heavy rain and lightning.

Of the 36 players yet to finish their first rounds, Korea's Park Jun-woon was the most handily placed at four-under through 12 holes, in a tie for third place with Denmark's Mads Vibe-Hastrup and Shiv Kapur of India.

However, the Korean faces a long day tomorrow as he will return to the course with all of the other weather-affected players to resume his opening round at 6.40am local time before proceeding to his second round.
