President elected

Noel Kenny went close to claiming his own president's prize in the Friday Friends Golf Society

Noel Kenny went close to claiming his own president's prize in the Friday Friends Golf Society. The event had taken place at Nenagh and Kenny came in fourth, although he was a long way behind the winner.

That honour went to 28 handicapper Johnny Donoghue, who shot a tremendous 40 points to pip Paul Noonan (21), who had to settle for second place on 38 points. It was Donoghue's first win of the season with the society. Third was Jim Archbold (22) on 37, with the Kenny fourth with 34 points.

The Friday Friends Golf Society, as the name would suggest, is a group of friends that play each Friday at various venues around the country. Many are members of Kilmashogue, but there is another element to the society that has a charitable benefit.

Apart from the weekly game of golf, each player also contributes money which is then forwarded to the hospice in Harold's Cross.
