Brett Quigley fired an incredible 10-inder-apr 62 last night and holds a three-stroke lead after the second round of the B.C Open.

Despite carding bogies on the sixth and 10th holes, Quigley managed eight birdies and two eagles in the round, playing the back nine in just 28 holes.

The American is three shots ahead of Mark Hensby, who shot a second 66 yesterday, and Jonathon Kaye, who added a 65 to his first-round 67.

Ireland's Richie Coughlan failed to make the cut, carding a 74 to add to Thursday's 72. Four times during the second round Coughlan carded a five on a par-four, which ultimately resulted to his early exit.

First round joint-leader Ty Tryon, a 17-year old in only his second ever PGA event recorded an even-par 72, after his terrific opening 65.

The high school junior was given a sponsor's exemption into the $2 million event at En-joie Golf Club, which has a less than stellar field given its scheduling date opposite the British Open.

In March, Tyron became the youngest player on the PGA Tour since 1957 to make a cut when he did so as a 16-year old in Los Angeles.

Tryon is attempting to become the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson won in Tucson in 1991.

"I think I approach pro events a little better than amateur events", Tryon said. " I feel a little more stressed at amateur events.

"My swing started to feel good, " said Tryon. " I started making some birdies and got on a roll. "

Tryon shared the first-round lead with Edward Fryatt, who matched his strong opening pace with a 68 yesterday, to lie just four shots off the lead.

"(I've) been struggling this year, haven't been driving the ball well, " Fryatt said. " I'm still in pretty good position despite that. "
