There was drama at the Southwell Races on Tuesday afternoon when the favourite for the 188Bet Novices’ Hurdle – Stick To The Plan – unseated jockey Bridget Andrews just metres from the line as she cruised, seemingly, to victory.
The Dan Skelton-trained 7-4 favourite jumped the last fine but Andrews lost an iron before regaining it. However, with less than 50 yards to the line the jockey became unbalanced, lost the iron again and was unseated.
The fortunate winner was Nemean Lion (9-1).
