Djakadam (Gold Cup) - “He’s been second the last two years but he’s coming to an age when he can win a Gold Cup. The first year he was a young horse. The second year he didn’t have a great preparation. But this year everything has gone right. Does he need to improve to win the Gold Cup, the year that’s in it? Limini (Champion Hurdle or Mares Hurdle) - “I was afraid she might have a hard race against Apple’s Jade just three weeks before the festival but we decided to run anyway. What I didn’t think was that Limini would beat Apple’s Jade without a slap. That means two questions: one is has she improved that much, or did Apple’s Jade not run up to form? It’s 50-50 about the Champion. I’ll talk to Rich (Ricci) but I think if she fine and sparking we probably take a punt.” Photograph: PA Wire

Yorkhill (JLT) - “I thought after he won the Neptune last year he could be a Champion Hurdle horse. But I had two of those (Annie Power and Faugheen) already so we went over fences with him. He’ll go for the JLT. We decided not to switch to the Champion Hurdle and stick to the plan this season. But he could easily be a Champion Hurdle horse next season if we decide to go that route."
