FAI Cup Second round: Munster Senior League side Douglas Hall provided the shock of the second round as they routed Eircom League neighbours Cobh Ramblers 4-1 in an astonishing win at Colman's Park on Saturday.

The 10 to 1 outsiders never really looked back once Ger O'Donovan put them in front on 18 minutes. O'Donovan then proved the cross for Brendan O'Connell to head the second three minutes before the break to stun second in the First Division Cobh who had been unbeaten in their previous 14 games.

Brendan Sweeney capped a man-of-the-match display with a superbly- struck third goal from long range on 61 minutes, with O'Connell adding their fourth goal five minutes later. Kevin Murray headed Cobh's consolation goal after 85 minutes.

Premier Division Longford Town were given the fright of their lives at Flancare Park before a Dave Mooney penalty gave them a 1-0 win over Leinster Senior League side Celbridge Town, the lowest ranked Intermediate side in the competition.

Celbridge midfielder Paul Drew twice hit the woodwork before Mooney scored from the spot on 66 minutes after David Freeman had been taken down by Mark Hudson.

Longford, who also hit a post through Mark Rutherford early on, had midfielder Daire Doyle sent off for a second booking 11 minutes from time.

UCD had no such problems in easing past the challenge of Salthill Devon at Drom. Connor Sammon put College in front on 22 minutes, and quick-fire goals from Derek Doyle and Conan Byrne close to half-time ended the Connacht side's aspirations. Byrne added another goal in the final minute to complete the comfortable 4-0 win.

In a dour match at Station Road, Kilkenny City beat Kildare County 1-0 with an 82nd minute own goal from the unfortunate Alan McDermott.
