CYCLING: Tour de France green jersey winner Thor Hushovd (Credit Agricole) won yesterday's third stage of the Tour of Catalonia, beating René Haselbacher (Gerolsteiner) and Robert Hunter (Phonak Hearing Systems) plus the rest of the main field in the bunch sprint which decided the 176.7km stage to Sant Carles de la Ràpita, reports Shane Stokes.

Irish rider Nicolas Roche placed 172nd on the stage, coming home in a group five minutes and 13 seconds back. He is now 167th, 6.03 behind new leader Hushovd overall.

Meanwhile, Siobhán Dervan (Lotto-Belisol Ladiesteam) placed 74th on yesterday's time trial stage of the Tour de l'Aude and is now 84th overall, 45 minutes and one second in arrears of Marina Jaunatre (French National Team).
