Ireland A coach Michael Bradley has named an inexperienced squad, containing just three capped players, that will take part in the Barclays Churchill Cup in England at the end of next month
The announcement comes on the same day senior coach Eddie O'Sullivan named his squad for next month's tour to Argentina. However, ea expected, he omitted the entire first choice starting XV in order to give his star performers a rest.
As a knock-on effect Bradley named a number of rookies with only Luke Fitzgerald, Johnny O'Connor and Roger Wilson having played Test rugby before. Uncapped Connacht hooker John Fogarty was made captain.
"Last year's tournament was an excellent experience for the players," said Bradley. "Three tough games in an intense period makes it a steep learning curve, but we came out of last year's tournament with three good performances."
"This year's squad has less experience, so we will be looking to the senior players to provide the leadership. Canada and the New Zealand Maori again offer international class opposition and I think the tournament plays an important role in developing the players experience at this level."
Bradley's side will play three games during the tournament, kicking off against Canada on May 19th.
