Ireland team: Just over two months since making his Munster debut, recent league convert Brian Carney will win his first international cap when the Irish touring party take on Argentina in Santa Fe this weekend.
The Cork-born former British rugby league star is the only uncapped player in Eddie O'Sullivan's starting line-up - although the Munster trio of Tony Buckley, Tomas O'Leary and Barry Murphy will hope to get a run at some stage - and will start on the right wing on Saturday (8.10pm Irish time).
O'Sullivan, who has described the former league star's transition between the codes as "pretty flawless", has resisted the temptation to utilise the 30-year-old at full-back, instead choosing to try out Gavin Duffy in that position.
With only Geordan Murphy included in the match 22 from the players involved in last weekend's Heineken Cup final, Isaac Boss gets the nod ahead of Eoin Reddan to form the half-back partnership with provincial teammate Paddy Wallace while Andrew Trimble will join Kieran Lewis in a new look midfield pairing.
In the pack, Jerry Flannery makes his first start in almost a year in a front-row comprising Bryan Young and Simon Best, who captains the side. Malcolm O'Kelly has a chance to underline his credentials in the second row ahead of the World Cup while Neil Best and Keith Gleeson will also be fighting for a place on the plane to France.
"This tour is about allowing players to challenge for the World Cup squad and it starts this weekend in the first test," said O'Sullivan today. "Players have to put their hands up over the next two weeks to put their case forward.
"Now that might put pressure on players, but there is no more pressurised an environment then international rugby and the world cup, so this will be a good test for them."
