Jerry Flannery's availability for this weekend's final European Cup pool match and the upcoming Six Nations is in jeopardy after the Munster hooker was cited for an alleged stamp on Clermont Auvergne's Julien Bonnaire.

Flannery now faces a disciplinary hearing in front of a three man committee to learn his fate. No date has yet been set for the hearing but it is likely to be held ahead of Saturday's winner-takes-all meeting with defending European champions Wasps.

After the game the Ireland hooker, who was earlier named in Eddie O'Sullivan's 33-man training squad for the Six Nations, claimed there was no malice in the incident that resulted in stitches to the eye of the Clermont flanker.

One replay appears quite damning for the Shannon forward, but from another it appears Flannery was impeded and was genuinely attempting to free his leg from interference.

If Flannery is found guilty, the panel must decide whether the incident was a 'lower end', 'mid range' or 'top end' foul. Each category carries a different punishment. 'Lower end' warrants a minimum two week suspension, mid range incurs a minimum of five, while 'top end' could, in theory, mean Flannery is banned for anything from nine weeks to 52 weeks.

It will be an anxious wait for the Ireland hooker who could miss out on the entire Six Nations campaign if the panel see fit. Ireland's first Six Nations game is against Italy in Corke Park on February 2nd.

Clermont's Alexandre Audebert has also been cited for two incidents during the game. The first is for an alleged stamp which resulted in Ronan O'Gara requiring 20 stitches to his ear, while the second is for an apparent punch on Alan Quinlan.

Wasps hooker Raphael Ibanez faces a hearing after being cited for allegedly stamping on Scarlets and Ireland flanker Simon Easterby.
