Argentina scored five tries to one to crown their remarkable World Cup with third place when they beat hosts France for the second time in the tournament 34-10 at the Parc des Princes.
Leinster's Felipe Contepomi ran in two of the tries and kicked another nine points to take his tournament tally to 91. Prop Omar Hasan, wing Horacio Agulla and fullback Ignacio Corleto scored the other tries.
Clement Poitrenaud replied with France's solitary try late in the match after a first-half penalty from scrumhalf Jean-Baptiste Elissalde for an interval score of 17-3.
Fighting broke out among the forwards on numerous occasions with referee Paul Honiss calling the captains to order.
On the stroke of halftime Honiss sent France captain Raphael Ibanez and Pumas lock Rimas Alvarez to the sin bin after yet another incident during a series of rucks on the Argentina line as France looked to get back into the match.
Argentine replacement flanker Juan Manuel Leguizamon was sent to the sin bin 18 minutes from the end for a high tackle on French replacement Sebastien Chabal.
