Murrayfield confirmed for 2009 final

Murrayfield has been confirmed as the host venue for the 2009 Heineken Cup final

Murrayfield has been confirmed as the host venue for the 2009 Heineken Cup final. It is the second time the 67,778 capacity stadium in the Scottish capital will host the European showpiece after the 2005 final was staged there.

Murrayfield hosted the 10th anniversary final in 2005 when the competition's inaugural winners Toulouse defeated Stade Francais 18-12 in front of a 51,326 crowd.

This weekend, however, all attention will be focused on the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff where Munster take on Toulouse in this year's final as Declan Kidney's men aim for a second European title.

Munster won their first Heineken Cup at the same venue in 2006 when, at the third time of asking, they defeated Biarritz 23-19 in front of 74,452 passionate fans - the majority of which travelled from Ireland.
