Donnacha Ryan will take the final spot on the Ireland bench for tomorrow's crucial clash against Argentina after Alan Quinlan lost his appeal against a three-week ban for stamping today.
Quinlan was adjudged to have violated Law 10.4(b) (a player must not stamp or trample on an opponent) for an offence on All Black number eight Rodney So'oialo,
An International Rugby Board appointed appeal committee, consisting of Jeremy Summers (England, Chair), Terry Vaux (Wales) and Malcolm Philips (England) met in Dublin this afternoon. They considered the various points raised by the player and his representatives and decided to dismiss the appeal and therefore the three-week suspension remains in effect.
Quinlan will also miss Munster's Magners League clash with the Scarlets on November 28th, but will be available when they return to action in the Heineken Cup, as his ban finishes on Saturday, December 6th, the day before they travel to take on French side Clermont Auvergne.
