Scotland 34 Pacific Islanders 22: Scotland outgunned the Pacific Islanders in the second autumn Test at Murrayfield but were not in any mood for a party after the final whistle.

The 34-22 triumph was soured by two serious-looking injuries in the build-up to the Six Nations and the 2007 World Cup.

Scrum-half Chris Cusiter and breakaway forward Johnny Beattie were taken to hospital after being carried off in the opening 10 minutes.

Border Reivers man Cusiter appeared to have sustained a shoulder injury, while Beattie suffered a suspected ankle fracture - a week after marking his first cap with a try.

The other big concern for Scotland head coach Frank Hadden was his side's failure to ram home their superiority in the second half after leading by 26 points at the break.

As they did against Wales last weekend the Pacific Islanders won the second half, converting a 31-5 interval position into a respectable 12-point defeat,

Centre Kameli Ratuvou scored twice at each of the half and lock Daniel Leo grabbed another.

The visitors were unable to cope with Scotland's more structured game during the first 40 minutes. Chris Paterson again showed why he is such an asset to Scotland by converting all four of the Scots first-half tries in addition to adding a penalty goal.

By contrast, Pacific Islanders' outside half Tusi Pisi missed three conversions before achieving success with his fourth and last attempt from near the touchline.

But Pisi was also at the heart of his side's impressive running rugby which enabled the Islanders to take charge in the second spell.
