Paddy Wallace will replace Ulster outhalf David Humphreys when Mark McCall's side take to the pitch against Glasgow at Hughenden this weekend.
The injury to Humphreys's arm, which he sustained in the first few minutes of the weekend defeat to Leinster, is not as bad as first feared but rules him out of contention until at least the end of January.
Wallace, however, is an able deputy and there will be additional cover on the bench for the number 10 shirt in the shape of Adam Larkin.
Winger Paul McKenzie will make his fourth appearance as Andrew Trimble moves to centre in place of Paul Steinmetz who is named on the bench.
Ulster face a stiff test tomorrow but a win in Glasgow would strengthen their position at the top of the Celtic League table.
