An Oliver Pugh try saved Terenure College from being dumped out of the Junior Cup at Templeville Road yesterday. King's Hospital out-half Philip Caldwell released left wing Ciaran Glynn who fed full back William Cunningham but was halted just short of the line. Onye Ekume-Nkama burst from the resulting scrum to make the line. Caldwell kicked the conversion.
Terenure's number eight Donal Dunlop then claimed an unconverted try. Then, out-half David McAllister struck a 23rd minute penalty to put Terenure in front. Just before the interval Ciaran Glynn crossed Terenure's line. Caldwell added the extra points and the underdogs had a 14-8 cushion.
Terenure began to dominate after the break, and they turned things around with a 42nd minute penalty and Pugh's late try.Terenure College: G Crawford; O Pugh, R Hopkins, K O'Toole, K Coleman; D McAllister, P Coleman; R Muldowney, R Hegarty, J A Lee; G Macklin, R McDonnell; C McGinn, D Page, D Dunlop.
