Women's Rules/Ireland 39 Australia 18: Despite having a 42-point lead wiped out at the end of the third quarter, Ireland's women were still able to achieve victory in the second Test of the International Rules series played at Parnell Park on Saturday night.
Leading 39-1 at half-time following goals from Cora Staunton and Mary Sheridan, Ireland then had Staunton sinbinned shortly after the resumption.
The Australians, beaten 130-15 in the first Test last Tuesday, then requested a player count after Ireland had illegally put on a substitute in Staunton's absence. And, despite incurring the points deduction, Ireland continued to dominate with Mayo All Star Staunton leading the way on 22 points.
Staunton was to pick up another yellow card in the final quarter, but the tourists, having failed to close the gap, then had a player sent off following a high tackle.
