BASKETBALL: ESB Superleague leaders Star of the Sea have signed Anthony Pieper ahead of their weekend game against Killester. Pieper, a 6ft 3 in guard from Marquette University in Milwaukee, played with Clare Jets for the 1999/2000 season and with Oberwart in Austria last year.
Pieper replaces Willie Bryant at the Belfast club, who will also be without Kevin Craig for the next two weeks due to other commitments.
Killester are likely to cut Angelo Hamilton this weekend following a five-point performance last weekend when they were hammered by Neptune. Howard Jackson, however, has been given a lifeline and will play this weekend against unbeaten Star.
Notre Dame have a full squad ahead of the game with Tralee Tigers. The Dubliners brought in 6 ft 6 in JoJo Chambers ahead of last weekend's one-point victory over Vincent's. John Gaines, who played with Notre Dame for the Cup weekend, will likely be released before the weekend.
Demons were without Shane Coughlan last weekend due to a serious ankle injury and he is unlikely to play this weekend against the ITP Saints. American Cory McGee will have to pick up his game in the coming weeks after the Demons allowed a half time lead slip away against UCD Marian, the only other unbeaten team left in the league.
