Sigerson Cup quarter-finals/UCD 1-10 GMIT 0-6: A Joe Sheridan goal 10 minutes from time sealed victory for UCD in their quarter-final meeting with GMIT at Woodmount, yesterday.

GMIT led by 0-3 to 0-2 after the first quarter but the introduction of the influential Stephen Lucey for UCD changed the trend of the game and the Dublin students led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the half-time break.

GMIT responded on the resumption with points from Dermot Earley and Paul Doherty. But UCD subsequently took complete control of the game and two points from the outstanding JP Casey and another from Dublin midfielder Darren Magee put daylight between the sides.

Sheridan then put the issue beyond doubt when he scored the only goal of the encounter from close range and set up a semi-final match with Queen's.
