Derry 3-12 Monaghan 1-3:DERRY SKIPPER Emmett McGuckin found the net twice at Celtic Park last night as the Oak Leafers demolished the challenge of Monaghan.
Derry were completely dominant in the first half and kicked three points from Benny Heron, Conlan Bradley and McGuckin within the first five minutes.
Monaghan got off the mark after eight minutes with a Thomas Kerr free but by the time they scored again the game was effectively beyond them.
Goals from Fergal Duffin and McGuckin and a flurry of points left the home ahead by 11 point ahead at the break and any chance of a comeback was ended when when McGuckin fisted home his second on 41 minutes.
Stephen Sherry did pull a goal back when he palmed home for Monaghan.
