Sligo R 3 Bray Wanderers 0:SLIGO ROVERS powered their way to a convincing win over Bray Wanderers at the Showgrounds last night to go second in the Premier Division table on goal difference from Shamrock Rovers.
The game was put out of the visitors’ reach in the 67th minute when good build-up play between substitute Raffaele Cretaro and Iarflaith Davoren paid dividends when Alan Keane headed the ball to the Bray net.
The Bray goal had a let off in the 14th minute when the in-rushing Eoin Doyle failed to connect with a dangerous ball.
Bray enjoyed a purple patch midway through the half but a chance for Pat Devlin’s side to open the scoring petered out when the impressive Jake Kelly drilled Dean Zambra’s cross wide of Brendan Clarke’s goal.
Danny Ventre put Sligo ahead in the 39th minute with a rasping shot that gave the Bray goalkeeper Darren Quigley no chance as the ball flashed into the net.
And the visitors were still reeling from that setback when Paul Cook’s side struck again with John Russell blasting a low shot into the Bray net.
