Cricket: Australia and Sri Lanka have both named unchanged teams today as they waited for the rain to stop so they can get the ninth cricket World Cup final under way.
Reigning champions Australia are going for an historic third successive triumph and enter the final with a stunning World Cup record of 22 consecutive wins and an unbeaten record of 28 matches stretching back to the 1999 event in England.
They also start as strong favourites and, unsurprisingly, keep faith with the same side who swept South Africa aside in ruthless fashion during Wednesday's semi-final.
It means all-rounder Shane Watson retained his place at number seven ahead of specialist batsman Brad Hodge while 37-year-old seamer Glenn McGrath plays the final international match of his illustrious career.
Sri Lanka also field an unchanged line-up having resisted the temptation to replace seamer Dilhara Fernando with Farveez Maharoof.
Fernando was by far the most expensive of Sri Lanka's bowlers during their 81-run semi-final triumph over New Zealand and conceded 45 runs in only five overs, prompting coach Tom Moody to consider bringing in Maharoof to face Australia's powerful batting line-up.
Moody, a member of Australia's World Cup winning squads of 1987 and 1999, is also attempting to become the first coach to win the World Cup with a country other than his own.
But despite a healthy crowd building up at the ground, play was delayed by heavy showers which prevented umpires Steve Bucknor and Aleem Dar from making a proper inspection.
