Liam Brady will seek a personal meeting with new Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni in the coming weeks before making any decision on becoming a member of his backroom staff.
Brady has been linked with a role in the new set-up, more than likely on a part-time basis, but is keen to ensure it won't affect his current position at Arsenal where he is head of youth development.
"I need to talk to Giovanni a bit more," Brady told Morning Ireland on RTE Radio. "I haven't actually spoken to him face to face, I have only spoken to him over the phone. I don't want to give up my job at Arsenal, I love my job at Arsenal,"
Trapattoni, whom managed the former Irish midfielder at Juventus in the 1980s, has already indicated his willingness to involve Brady and does not forsee any problems with Arsenal.
"I asked the federation (FAI) if he can come and work with me," the Italian said yesterday. "He knows the federation, he knows the players so he can work with me . . . not full-time, though.
"Liam has a very, very important job with Arsenal; but I know Arsène Wenger and I am sure that when I need him I can ask Arsène and he will allow Liam to come and work with me."
