Friday’s draw also sees Molde from Norway make up their Group A match-ups.
Celtic last met Ajax in the Champions League group stages two seasons ago, beating them 2-1 in Glasgow but losing away in Amsterdam 1-0. While they’ve yet to play Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Tottenham have been handed a daunting group including a long haul trip to Azerbaijan.
Spurs were drawn in Group J with Monaco, Anderlecht and FK Qarabag, who play matches in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.
Monaco beat Arsenal in last season’s Champions League.
Liverpool’s task is not straightforward either with games against Russian side Rubin Kazan, Bordeaux and Swiss club Sion in Group B.
Meanwhile Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has received his first call-up to the senior Germany squad - with Joachim Low selecting on him for the upcoming clashes with Poland and Scotland.
