Cork IT 1 Limerick IT 0 (aet):  A wonder strike from Ray Lally minutes from the end of extra time gave Cork IT a narrow victory over Limerick IT in the Colleges FAI Umbro Cup Final in Galway.

With a penalty shoot out looming Karl Caulfield touched a free on to Lally and the Cork City defender - operating as a striker for his college - fired in a shot from all of 30 yards.

The win brings some consolation to Laurence Neville's charges who last month lost out to UCD in the Colleges and Universities Premier League decider and gives them another chance to avenge that defeat when they meet the Belfield side again in the Super Cup Final next month.

After a close first half that saw little in the way of scoring chances Limerick might have gone ahead in the second half when Player of the Tournament Conor Daly saw two fine efforts brilliantly saved by Cork goalkeeper Kyle Smith.
