League of Ireland round-up: Drogheda United secured their first League of Ireland title amid joyous scenes at United Park this evening with a dramatic last-gasp 2-1 win over Cork City.
The title celebrations appeared to be on hold for at least another week as time ebbed away before Guy Bates stunning long range strike clinched the silverware for Paul Doolin's side.
Eamon Zayed had fired the home side in front on the half-hour mark but Jason Gavin put through his own goal 25 minutes from time to level matters.
With the champagne back on ice, Drogheda seemed content to accept a draw only for Bates to weave his magic with 90 seconds remaining, driving at the heart of the Cork defence before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 25 yards.
The result left St Patrick's Athletic 5-0 demolition of Shamrock Rovers redundant, although it does lift the Dublin side ahead of Cork into second place. Elsewhere, Longford won 1-0 at UCD, Bohemians beat Derry City 2-1 and Bray were held to a 1-1 draw by Galway United.
