League of Ireland round-up: Drogheda strengthened their vice-like grip on the Premier Division title with a comprehensive 2-0 win over nearest rivals St Patrick's Athletic tonight.

Paul Doolin's side are now eight points clear, with the added bonus of a game in hand, as goals from man-of-the-moment Shane Robinson and Eamon Zayed earned a deserved victory at United Park.

Robinson, who grabbed the late winner at Bray on Monday,  opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, his well struck shot taking a slight deflection of a St Pat's boot before evading Barry Ryan in the visitor's goal.

And Zayed, who proved a handful all night for the St Pat's defence, got the goal his industry merited 25 minutes into the second period to effectively seal the points, and, barring a spectacular collapse, the title for that matter.

Shamrock Rovers, meanwhile, moved level with St Pat's in second place, Andy Myler's brace giving them a 2-0 win at Waterford United.

Elsewhere, Derry City's enjoyed a 3-1 win at home to Longford, Bohemians overcame Cork City 2-1 at Dalymount Park while Galway United held UCD to a 2-2 draw.
