Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is facing a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury which in the short term at least rules him out of Sunday's visit of Stoke.

The England midfielder sustained the problem in the first half of the 1-1 draw in Dortmund and he left the stadium on crutches. It's already been an injury plagued season for the club captain, who will be keen to return to the pitch as soon as possible - not only to head his team's Europa League assault but with a heavy eye on the European Championships this summer.

Forwards Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino are pushing for starting places after brief substitute appearances in Germany but goal scorer at Signal Iduna Park Divock Origi could well keep his place.

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Milner, Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho, Origi, Ward, Toure, Skrtel, Ward, Allen, Brannagan, Ibe, Ojo, Sturridge.
